Reto Camenisch, Andy Harper: ‹Looking Glass›

12.1.-18.2.2012

Reto Camenisch unmistakably captures the depth of a place by transposing it into impressive images. Landscapes appear familiar yet uncanny through the simple shift in proportion. Every detail emerges monumentally and reveals in its grandeur the never ending tale of time passing by. Juxtaposed to these black and white photographs the quasi baroque paintings by the British artist, Andy Harper reveal the madness of an other world. Overgrown paths of an imaginary flora create a fantastic composition. The threatening density of patterns seems to infiltrate beyond the canvas, breaking the boundaries between the known and the unknown, thereby giving way to a possible dialogue between the two distinct series of work.
