COM&COM (Marcus Gossolt / Johannes Hedinger): ‹NEW WORKS›

26.5.-2.7.2016

NEW WORKS assembles three new workgroups by the art duo Com&Com (Marcus Gossolt / Johannes M. Hedinger).

BLENDING
The centre of the exposition is the forth painting cycle by Com&Com, who will be presented in our gallery. After the psychedelic dream pictures from THE BIG ONE (2007 and 2008), the ephemeral cloud pictures CLOUDS (2012) and the monochrome sky pictures SKY (2014) the artists are entering through the series BLENDING (2016) an entirely new terrain.
Tough they have already provoked traditional painting with brush and color in their earlier work, new they expand their color- and material-research to the painting substrate. The early series of color gradient were realized by airbrush, the BLENDING series is entirely without any additive color application. The color will affect directly to the painting substrate, as the canvas will be weaving in with thousand colored threads. Through specific color change within the horizontal and vertical threads the artists developed a new form of color mixture that enable a painting entirely without conventional manual color application or print. The color mixture develops directly in the eye of the beholder.
The choice of the colors, or rather the gradient, felt on the one hand in the weaving mill with the choice of the threads and on the other hand by the determination of the picture detail. All images of the BLENDING series are unique.
The exclusive method is developed by COM&COM with the fabric factory Bernasconi Tessuti from Como (I) who is specialized on Haute Couture. The artists were advised by the well-known fabric designer Martin Leuthold (Creative Director by Jakob Schlepper Textiles St. Gallen)

Drawings
Parallel to the textile works a new drawing cycle arose. It is the continuation of the early series from 2010, which deal with the subject of nature and folklore. The new element are people, who COM&COM have met in line with the perennial projects Bloch, Point de Suisse and Methods of Art in USA, Russia and in Switzerland. Traditional Swiss customs like the Alpaufzug in Appenzell or the Urnäscher Silvesterchläuse meet the Indian folklore from North Dakota or pedestrians from Ekaterinburg/Russia.

Print
The paintings and drawings are accompanied by the new prints by Bloch (www.bloch23781.com). Just before the departure to his journey round the world, when one end by Bloch was printed and shown for the first time in our gallery. Since that time Bloch arrived on the third continent (Europa, Asia, North America), where in Cincinnati by the end of 2015 the other end of Bloch was imprinted as a relief print in two editions (black, sepia).

Video
Next to the exhibition room at viedokunst.ch we show for the first time in Switzerland the video work „ ZEN FOR INTERNET“ (2014) from COM&COM.
