Dominik Stauch has continually been working on carrying the medium of painting beyond its limits by combining different media but remaining true to the theory of colour. Glass paintings are combined with furniture and carpet installations, whereas these are in turn put on the same level as computer-animation. Thus his exhibition figures both oil paint as well as digital pixels. The individual pieces work perfectly well on their own, but, as they basically deal with the same concerns, they also combine to a stunningly coherent and harmonious whole. While some people are still talking about the end of painting, Stauch has gone beyond this debate and brought his work to the forefront of contemporary art.
