Quynh Dong
Quynh Dong (*1982) was born in Hai Phong, North Vietnam and has lived in Switzerland since she was eight years old. Among other things, the artist appears as a performer and is known for her watercolors, ceramic objects and video works.
Quynh Dong grew up between two cultures and investigates in her work elements of Western and Eastern history, arts and crafts and traditions. The two references are mixed and carefully woven together with ceremonies and thus questioned in many ways. By this, she not only points out cultural differences and misunderstandings but also challenges the beholder to adopt new ways of perceiving and thinking about cultural phenomena.
In her work she consistently combines different media to create video performances, video paintings, performative watercolors and various objects. In her initial video, Quynh Dong works with family members, who, as direct contemporary witnesses, assume a key role in her work.
